Live Launch for Auction App

Delivered to a really tight timeframe, Hampshire based Compsoft has released a bespoke Auction Application to Contemporary Art House Phillips De Pury for a major event Friday, 12th February.

Phillips De Pury has just invested in its auction house, updating the facilities and, as part of the fresh new look, it was time to change the bid presentation. Previously attendees would view two screens, managed by two laptops: one illustrating images of the lots on sale - a PowerPoint presentation manually flicked through; the other a currency conversion application that showed bid prices in an array of currencies. The two screens needed to be merged in to one but would still need to allow the operator to control the lot being shown and the increase in bids as they happen.

The new set up was required for a Contemporary Art Auction that will attract media attention hence the quick delivery.

Well experienced in desktop applications, Compsoft rose to the challenge, developing a bespoke software solution using Microsoft's Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), part of the .NET Framework 3.0. The finished application has a command window that enables the user to set up an auction, taking images from any source, identify which currencies are to be used and the current rate of exchange (with offices around the world and a diverse customer base the currency display needed to be flexible) and the ability to set hot keys to easily manage the rate at which bids increase.

Following rigorous testing, this application will be used live for the first time on Friday 12th February.
