Focus on Equinox

Compsoft is proud to announce an increased focus on Equinox alongside the beta release of version 5, affirming Compsoft’s ongoing development of and commitment to Equinox.

As part of this evolution, former Head of Support Services, Simon Burfield, has been tasked with overseeing the commercial use of Equinox, both by VARs and by the bespoke development team. As a result of Simon’s placement, Mark Kenyon has been promoted to take charge of the Support Team.

Despite being a relatively new addition to the team, Mark has brought to Compsoft significant management experience and expertise in database architecture, in object orientated programming and in web-based application development. In his time at Compsoft, he has already attained a comprehensive understanding of Equinox and been proven capable at dealing with user issues. As Support Manager, Mark takes on the responsibility for the ongoing support of external customers as well as coordinating the internal systems. Throughout the Equinox 5 beta testing Mark will work closely with both Research & Development and with the external testers to monitor its progress.

Having undergone extensive testing internally, with the Support Team applying the new features to a wide range of uses, Equinox version 5 is now in beta testing with a select group of customers. Enhancements to the latest version of Equinox include:

  • Index caching which can speed up the performance of applications
  • Syntax highlighting in the method language
  • The ability to translate applications into other languages
  • The ability to enable stronger passwords within Equinox, for example forcing a at least one numeric character, making the passwords case sensitive or even making them conform to standard Windows strong password rules, and
  • Inclusion of HTML reporting which allows you to email the reports and view them via a web browser.

Compsoft is grateful to the beta testing group for their commitment to ensuring that Equinox version 5 is the highest quality of any first release.

Simon, having been a valuable member of the Support Department over many years, and been an Equinox developer – even in his spare time, is tasked with driving Equinox forward as a tool for external users and Compsoft’s development team. Furthermore, Simon will liaise with customers and oversee the use of Equinox for bespoke applications, ensuring that Equinox retains its position as a quality and highly functional business solution.
