Dial-A-Seat Online Goes Live
The online ticket booking portal www.dialaseat.co.uk developed by Compsoft for ticket sales agency Dial-A-Seat is now live. The step-by-step show and seat selection process makes buying tickets online a simple procedure. Payment options are fully integrated and handled by online payment specialists Worldpay, part of The Royal Bank of Scotland group.
The website is integrated with the existing Dial-A-Seat back-office system, originally developed using Compsoft`s own Equinox database development tool and used to manage the call centre and ticket production. New shows and venues are configured via this system and polled by the web server, ensuring that the most up to date details are always available online. During the booking process, ticket availability is checked in real time using an XML Web Services interface to the in-house system. This ensures that individual seats cannot be double-booked. Customers receive a confirmation email once the booking process is complete. Tickets are then printed by the in-house system and sent to the customer by post.
Compsoft developed the website using the latest .NET version 2 framework and VB.NET programming language combined with XHTML 1.0. Compsoft also completed he modifications to the Equinox based back-office system to accommodate the web site and integrate web services.
