Bringing Google and Microsoft together for Photoplan

Bespoke software development house Compsoft reviews one of its latest projects, a web-based business management system that brings together Microsoft and Google technologies for property marketing specialist Photoplan.

Taking on the challenge of delivering high quality bespoke software solutions during the economic recovery, Compsoft provided an innovative approach to completing the whole system needed by Photoplan while keeping it affordable. The solution was in the form of Google Calendar.

Photoplan, building on its success providing photographic services to the property industry, needed a reliable and scalable mechanism to replace the reliance on paper. The system would need to manage the new appointments for staff and freelance photographers, linking times and dates with contacts and products and critically support the business as it grows. Compsoft chose Microsoft.NET technology to develop the software that manages the internal processes and, recognising that Google Calendar offers considerable functionality for live scheduling, used the Application Programming Interface (API) to integrate with Google's capability to share calendars and create events in a staff member's calendar, even contacts that are not based in the head office.

Scheduling an appointment is made easy with Google Calendar's API.

The live bespoke software solution is providing Photoplan with a real-time view of staffing activities and a reliable mechanism for taking and managing customer orders. Compsoft is proud of the completed project and Photoplan is really pleased with the efficiencies now realised from the system as it manages some 20 freelance staff online.
